Innovation that changes the world

Technology is now important in everyday life and industry. Many industrial sections need to adapt to disruption caused by technological leaps. With cooperation between Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), network for satellite positioning infrastructure is established.

As the result of the cooperation, DEMO DAY Showcase for GNSS Innovation was held in 30th August 2018 at Space Innovation Center, Sriracha, Chonburi to exhibited projects that used high accuracy satellite positioning in their projects.

Started with Autonomous driving system developed by ATI cooperate with Smart Mobility, tested by Asst. Prof. Nuksit Noomwongs from department of automotive engineering, faculty of engineering, Chulalongkorn University.

Using micro-EV name COMS from Smart Mobility as test vehicle and using parts from reliable Japanese company. Such as satellite receiver from Nikon-Trimble Co., Ltd and camera from Tokai Clarion Ltd.

“We utilize GNSS system and achieve effective Autonomous driving and I think that this technology could be used for development in many sections: Education, Social, Wellbeing and Environment” speaks Akira Nagao, ATI company president.

He also added that this Micro EV will be affordable options for autonomous vehicle. This vehicle will be used in short distance with low speed around 40 Km/hr. for safety rides.

The goal is to make Micro EV to connect people to office building, hospital, health center and supermarket or using in smart city in the near future. With the goal in mind, we design autonomous vehicle with 4 core functions: Positioning, Vehicle control, Surrounding detection and Route determination. The GNSS system is a great help to vehicle positioning with high accuracy.

In addition, we installed POS-LVX multi GNSS antenna along with IMU which is used when GNSS cannot detect correct position. Designs vehicle control system to control brake, steering and acceleration. Installed Milliwave Rangefinder and Side Milliwave Radar to create 3D surrounding map that can detect obstacle.

To enhance safety driving system, we used 2 cameras to get picture from inside and outside the vehicle. Camera system will make autonomous driving system operate safely.

Mr.Nagao also added that now ATI is cooperate with GISTDA to further develop autonomous vehicle and ATI will open office in Thailand for design and test the vehicle that suits Thai environment.

‘Autonomous Micro EV would be a good use in industrial park and ways to commute in smart city. Many countries are now supporting technology for smart city so ATI want to propose our technology to include in smart city as much as possible’

‘Most important benefit from autonomous vehicle is to reduce car accident, help elderly to transport. By using autonomous driving, people can be travel safely with high accuracy’ speaks Mr.Nagao

As for Mr.Shigemi Hidaka, Development Manager, Yanmar agribusiness Japan said that Yanmar had been developed non-human robot tractor which controlled by application on tablet. There are many functions on this tractor such as, Plow and till the soil, plant and add fertilize. We’ve demonstrated our tractor to plowing and planting corn, using planting cart beside the tractor to plant corn seeds after plowing. As you can see, robot tractor can plow the designated area and plant the seed correctly. This tractor is also easy to control, so it’d good for every farmer.

There are 2 main functions on the tractor, first “Autonomous mode” that can move forward, backward, stop and turns automatically. Second is “Forward mode” that can operate both manual and autonomous. User could utilize between these 2 modes to match their tasks. Tractor is controlled by tablet that durable, water and dustproof which easy to operate to determined operate areas, route marking and tractor monitoring.

‘Yanmar is keen to develop technology and new innovations that help to reduce labor forces require in agriculture. By crate technological products that help in plowing, planting and harvesting. This step towards robotic agriculture reflects our visions to elevate to a sustainable future’
